In 1908 Charles Allen McClain married Lorena Bozeman. When he died in 1949 it appears one of their children gave the information for the death certificate as Lorena is listed as the Mother and the dates are wrong. Charles was the son of Josiah Marion McClain and Elizabeth Broadway, with ancestors in South Carolina during the American Revolution. Alice Emma or Emily was the daughter of Charles who married about 1930 and died in 1935 giving birth to her third child. Alice had a daughter named Annie Alice in 1934. Lorena and Charles had to raise those three children. Charlie and Annie are pictured about 1940. Emily had married Cecil Earl Carter and his death certificate shows his parents were Anna Lou Stone and William F. Fenn but his stepfather Carter had raised him. Anna's parents were Mary Ann Hendrick and Augustus Marvin Stone. Cecil's death certificate was signed by his brother Emmett Marvin Fenn. I traced the Fenns to Zachariah Fenn who gained Bounty Land for his military service in the American Revolution and resided in Georgia with his son Travis. The McClains also traced back to a Charles McClain in the 1800 census of Spartanburg, SC with his wife Elizabeth Moon.
